The Stork Drop

No, we literally have NOTHING.

Throughout our time with Angel Adoption, we learned that there are a number of different ways their adoptions take place.
The most common scenario is where an expectant mother decides to look into adoption, reviews profiles, and chooses an adoptive family. In this scenario an adoptive family gets matched and connected with an expectant mother a few months, or at least a few weeks, before the baby's due date. There is time to get to know each other a little bit and to prepare for the arrival of the baby.
Another way that their adoptions can take place is through a "stork drop." Just as the name implies, an expectant mother reaches out to the adoption agency after the baby has been born and chooses an adoptive family for her baby at that time.
Our adoption story was a stork drop!
We learned about stork drop opportunities in December, and our adoption coordinator gave us the option to "opt in" to this type of adoption opportunity at that time. She then told us that it would be a good idea to prepare for a stork drop by setting some travel money aside, making plans for what to do with pets if they will need to be cared for, and possibly even having plans for a nursery or the baby's basic needs...just in case we get a stork drop opportunity.
Completely opposite of my overly-cautious and plan-ahead nature, I explained to Tyler that it would be too difficult for me to walk past a nursery every day wishing a baby was there. So, could we please just wait and trust that God would provide if we were given a stork drop? I was SURE we wouldn't (ha!).
So, of course, God's sense of humor was to give us a stork drop! When we got our call we had only collected one onesie, two books, and a set of Greek blocks (hello, seminary nerds here). Needless to say, we could have prepared better!
We had to joke with people at the beginning when they asked if we had a nursery ready. Not only was there no nursery, there were no diapers, no bottles, no anything. We heard ourselves saying over and over, "No, we literally have NOTHING."
But even as we had trusted that God would provide, God has provided over and abundantly more than we could have ever asked or imagined through many of our generous friends and family. We could not be more grateful or feel more loved!
We wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has showered us and our little peanut with so much love by sending gift cards, checks, diapers, clothes, blankets, toys, teethers, pacifiers...all the things. The Lord has provided through you, and we could not have cared for our little guy so well without all of you.

How can you pray for us?
First and foremost, please pray that we would keep our eyes fixed on Christ who not only knows but holds our future and our family in His hands. Pray that we would seek Him first every morning and that we would point our sweet boy to Him every day.
Please join us in praising God for providing the funds we needed to bring our little one home. Our puzzle fundraiser raised about 41% of our adoption program fees!!
Please pray that Christ would be a light shining in and through us. Our heart's desire is to be a helpful resource and encouraging friend to those walking this same road of infertility and/or adoption, whether they are just beginning, in the midst, or seasoned veterans.
